Journal to Ryn'skel

Day 4, 812 AC (after chaos)
I just arrived at the old passage to Ryn’skel, which has been sealed off by the Frozen Lands Mages. I can easily spot the chaos storms, even though there’s hanging a thick mist on top of the mountains surrounding the former kingdom. Night is falling, I’ve had a long trip. Tomorrow I will check if the information the old miner gave me is indeed correct.

Day 5, 812 AC
Been a rough night. You can hear the energy smashing against the mountains from a 5 miles away. Still, the sound only makes me more anxious about getting there. I’m leaving now for the old mines. According to an old miner I spoke, it is possible to enter Ryn’skel from there, even though it’s not easy. A high possibility of goblin clans there, so I decided to take a few scrolls with me which grant me invisibility. Should do it to get past most dangers unnoticed. I still have my staff to defend myself if necessary.

The miner was indeed correct! The mine is still accessible through a breach in the rocks blocking the main entrance off. I hope my next report will be when I have arrived in Ryn’skel!

Day 6, 812 AC
I have made it through the mines without a lot of troubles but the view of this old kingdom gives me the shivers. Everything lies in ruins. In my head, I can simply hear the moaning of the dead. But the most terrifying thing I have seen is some sort of hole in the air, surrounded by dark energy. My guess is that this must be some sort of portal but by the looks of it, I certainly don’t want to know where it’s headed to.

Day 7, 812 AC
Between the hundreds of ruined houses, castles and other buildings I found one building I already heard about. The tower of Rynal, last city of Ryn’skel. I believe it is here that the defenders of this now ruined place, opened one of the Forbidden books. My theory is that Rynal was almost defeated by the goblin army when the defenders retreated into the last stronghold. The mighty city of Rynal. However, they were to proud to lose a battle. They were to proud to yield. So they ended the war in the most cruel way. They destroyed the whole kingdom, including Ryn’skel and it’s enemies.

Day 8, 812 AC
I’m glad today is my final day here. During the night, I saw some strange things. Some hooded man was staring at me from behind a pile of rocks. When I tried to approach, he simply walked into an alley. When I arrived, the alley was empty. Also, I constantly have the feeling people are trying to talk to me. Even though I am absolutely sure there are or were any survivors or other researchers here. I don’t feel safe anymore. I am returning now and I hope I arrive back to Ilrion safely.
